Choice of Accommodation
This summer, for your stay in Montreal, we propose two types of housing either in a private studio at UQAM Residences or with a French -speaking host-family
Accommodation in a Private Studio
The brand new UQAM Residences, recently opened, offer modern, safe and comfortable private studios. Situated in the heart of Montreal, UQAM Residences are:
- only a short 10-minute walk to classes
- just next to Place des Arts, a unique cultural complex in Canada where visual and dramatic arts come together and where most summer festivals take place, and notably the Francofolies, Montreal International festival dedicated to French music and singers
- merely 5-minute walk to legendary Saint-Laurent Boulevard, reputed for its shops, restaurant and bustling night life
Each studio is furnished with:
- kitchenette (stove and fridge)
- bathroom (shower and toilet)
- a desk
- closet
- telephone with voice mail
- fan
- double bed
- linens and towels. Linens are changed weekly

Also provided: plates, cutlery and cooking utensils. Cleaning sundries are provided. However, maid service is not.
Meals are not included in the price when staying in UQAM Residences. Keep in mind an average cost of 15$ daily for self-prepared meals or an average of 25$ daily if you eat out.

- front desk reception and video surveillance 24 / 7
- possibility of parking near the residences
Accommodation with a Host Family
Important : This option is not possible if you are accompanied by your spouse.
When choosing to stay with a Francophone family, you will live a total immersion experience. Just like living at home, you will have an opportunity to continue practising and expanding your language skills while getting an even better understanding of what life is like in Montreal and Canada in general.
Our carefully-selected families are both fun and friendly. You will be welcome into their homes with open arms. Clean and comfortable, our families, reside between 45 and 90 minutes travel-time (bus and/or metro) from your classes at UQAM.
Offered to you in your family's home:
- your own private room
- linens and towels
- shared bathroom facilities
If you decide to stay with one of our families, you will have a choice from:
- Stay with 2 meals (breakfast + dinner (evening))
- Stay with 3 meals (breakfast + packed lunch + dinner (evening))
If you decide to stay with one of our families, we will e-mail you the contact details (address, telephone, e-mail) of your host family before your arrival in Montreal. We will also provide you with a brief description of the house / apartment and of the neighbourhood in which you will reside.

Bringing a Spouse:
If you have signed up for this 3-week training program plus accommodation option, consider bringing along your spouse for the small additional fee of $149. You will both be lodged in a private studio in the UQAM residences (see the description in the "Choice of Accommodation" section above). In your registration form, select the option « Residences : Private Studio with Spouse. »
Important : The option of staying with a host family is not available to participants accompanied by spouses.
When you register for the course, you must send us by (fax : +1 514-987-4349) proof of medical insurance coverage for your spouse.
Your spouse may register at our Department for optional activities (Sports Centre, Hatha yoga classes, afternoon and weekend outings like the trip to Quebec City). Registration must be done in person once you arrive in Montreal (no on-line registration is possible).
Please note that your spouse cannot attend classes in the mornings or the afternoon modules for which you are registered. S/he may, however, register officially for one of our programs, including this teacher training course, and enjoy all the benefits of the program selected:

Free Accommodation :
How can you participate in this teacher training program and enjoy free accommodation?
Answer: Assemble and register a group of students (minimum of 10 participants, mandatory age of 18 and over) in one of our Full-day immersion programs (French or English) during the months of July and/or August, and obtain your private studio accommodation free of charge. In addition, each of the student participants will receive a reduction on the regular cost of the Full-day Language Immersion Program.
