Description of Practical Class Outings and Activities
- Guided Visit of the Vieux-Montreal - Old Port
-
Old Montreal, the oldest section of the city alongside the majestic Saint-Lawrence River. Old Montreal is world famous for its history, its architecture, unique in North America, museums, art galleries and numerous cafés and restaurants. In the summer, this vibrant neighbourhood attracts a great many artists, musicians and street performers.
- Guided visit of the Biodome
-
Oasis in the city, the Biodome of Montreal recreates four of the most beautiful ecosystems under one roof: the Tropical Forest, the Laurentian Forest, Saint-Lawrence marine life and the Arctic.
- Guided Visit of the Biosphere
-
The Biosphere of Environment Canada is a museum in Montreal dedicated to water and the environment. It is located on St. Helen's Island in the building designed by Richard Buckminster Fuller for the United States pavilion for the 1967 World Exhibition: Expo 67. The museum, inaugurated in 1995, offers interactive activities and presents exhibitions about the major environmental issues related to water, climate change and the sustainable development of the Great Lakes-St Lawrence ecosystem.
- Guided Visit of the Plateau Mont-Royal Neighbourhood
-
The legendary "Plateau Mont-Royal" has been immortalized by the great Montreal playwright, Michel Tremblay. Plateau Mont-Royal boasts the densest population of artists in Canada. This picturesque neighbourhood, steeped in history, is a must-see and cannot be missed.
- Guided Visit of the Golden Square Mile
-
The Golden Square Mile is the name of a luxurious neighbourhood on the slopes of Mount Royal in the west-central section of downtown Montreal. From 1850 to 1930 upper class families began to migrate out of Montreal's increasingly congested downtown core and settle into the suburbs. This period saw the development of the city's most beautiful residences in the Golden Square Mile.
While walking through the Golden Square Mile, discover the rich heritage left by the Scots during the development of the city of Montréal in the 19th century. - Guided visit of the Pointe-à-Callières Museum
Built exactly on the site of Montreal's founding, the Montréal Museum of Archaeology and History uncovers the span of six centuries of Montreal history, from the dealings with the First Nations to our present day. From this one of a kind museum, you will enjoy being in the Old port of Montreal, on the magnificent de la Commune Street, with views of Habitat 67, Saint Helen's Island and Montreal Casino. Musée Pointe-à-Callière is a must-see... and you'll see it!
- Guided Visit of McCord Museum
-
The McCord Museum is a public research and teaching museum dedicated to the preservation, study, diffusion, and appreciation of Canadian history.
Optional Outings and Activities

Jean-Talon market (French program). The most important public market in Montreal, the Jean-Talon market is also one of the largest in North America. You will be conducting many different activities in French in this major local institution, inaugurated in 1933.
Atwater market (English program). Considered one of the largest garden markets in the city, Atwater market, situated on the Lachine Canal in predominantly Anglophone Pointe-Saint-Charles neighbourhood, comes to life as with the coming of spring. "April showers bring May flowers", all of which can be found in profusion on the grounds surrounding Atwater market. - Visit of Montreal Museum of Contemporary Art
-
The Montreal Museum of Contemporary Art is a true institution of the XXI century. It is located on Place des Arts, a unique cultural complex in Canada where visual and dramatic arts come together. The first institution in Canada dedicated exclusively to contemporary art, the museum offers permanent and temporary exhibits of leading Canadian and international artists.
